Archbishop Oscar Romero and Fr Rutilio Grande SJ are two 20th century Salvadoran martyrs. They are also two heroes of Pope Francis. Romero was killed as he said Mass on March 24th, 1980; three years earlier his Jesuit friend had been assassinated on the way to celebrate Mass. For these two outstanding Eucharistic martyrs, the road to canonisation was frequently blocked. St Aloysius’ College welcomes Chair of the Archbishop Romero Trust, Julian Filochowski OBE. Working with Archbishop Romero, he became his friend and for forty years he followed both Archbishop Romero and Fr Rutilio’s journeys to sainthood. Join us at our upcoming Romero Lecture and hear him recount their stories – inspiring models for the 2020 Church. Tuesday 28th January, 7pm. Main Hall, St Aloysius’ College, 45 Hill Street, Glasgow G3 6RJ. Entry free. Register at www.staloysius.org
